Why this role matters now

The contribution this role unlocks

An international marketplace needs legal questions identified early and translated into practical controls. This supervised role improves source quality and escalation; it does not provide independent legal advice.

Your place in the team

You will work on narrowly scoped research for the responsible reviewer. Findings must use current primary sources, state assumptions and identify when qualified external advice is required.

  • Review current primary sources and record citations
  • Translate findings into a practical checklist with limitations

Your role at GamingCenter

Legal Research & Compliance helps the team identify obligations early and turn them into usable controls. This paid working-student role involves source-backed research, issue spotting and structured checklists under supervision; it does not include independent legal advice.

An unpaid one-month traineeship is considered only where a recognised educational institution or competent public authority formally arranges it and the Estonia work-country, enrolment and legal checks are documented and approved before the start. A declaration in the application is not approval. Otherwise the candidate performs no unpaid work and may remain in recruitment or, with consent, in the talent pool until a paid opening is available.

An approved placement has written learning objectives, mentorship, approximately 20 hours per week, weekly feedback and a transparent 10-point scorecard. A final score of at least 8/10 permits consideration for a separate paid working-student or legally appropriate contract. Progression is not automatic and depends on legal eligibility, continuing enrolment, payroll readiness, budget and available headcount.

This is a paid part-time position with defined responsibilities, written objectives and regular feedback. Before the start, we confirm enrolment, the physical work country, work eligibility, compensation and the responsible contracting party in a signed agreement. Recruitment tasks are time-boxed and non-production; no unpaid productive work is part of the selection process.

How you will contribute

  • Research assigned regulatory questions using authoritative sources
  • Maintain obligation registers, evidence indexes and review calendars
  • Prepare concise issue summaries that separate facts, assumptions and open questions
  • Support privacy, contract and platform-policy documentation under supervision
  • Escalate matters requiring qualified legal advice or formal approval

What will help you succeed

  • Current enrolment in law, business law, compliance or a related field
  • Legal right to work remotely from Estonia
  • Strong source evaluation, citation and written-analysis skills
  • Understanding that the role does not provide independent legal advice
  • Professional English and availability for approximately 20 hours per week

Helpful experience

  • Relevant coursework, student project, internship or volunteer experience
  • Familiarity with remote collaboration and structured documentation
  • Interest in gaming, marketplaces, creator ecosystems or digital products

What you will learn and gain

  • Paid part-time experience in Legal & Compliance within an early-stage gaming marketplace
  • Structured onboarding, weekly feedback and documented development goals
  • Ownership of defined work with review before production or external use
  • Cross-functional collaboration and portfolio-ready evidence where confidentiality permits

What happens next

  • Application and initial review
  • A short, clearly scoped recruitment task that does not involve production work
  • Online conversation and task review
  • Work-country, enrolment and work-eligibility checks
  • Written offer confirming pay, hours, working model and start date

Time commitment in the selection process

  • Initial conversation: usually about 30 minutes
  • Role interview: usually about 45 minutes
  • Recruitment task: approximately 150 minutes

Assessments are clearly scoped and never ask for productive work for GamingCenter.

Success in the first 30 days

  • Complete confidentiality, source-quality and no-legal-advice onboarding
  • Research one scoped question using current primary sources and citations
  • Translate findings into a practical checklist with assumptions and limits
  • Present risk, uncertainty and escalation points to the responsible reviewer
