Frequently Asked Questions
Transparent answers about internships, applications, interviews and privacy.
Can I apply from anywhere?
Each listing states its location and work model. Remote / Global roles welcome candidates across time zones, subject to role needs and a workable overlap with Berlin time.
How do global remote internships work?
You may apply from any country to a Remote / Global internship. Before an offer, we confirm whether a lawful remote internship agreement can be made for the country where you will physically perform the work. Mandatory local internship, minimum-compensation, tax, social-security and school-document rules still apply. MiLoG §22 is assessed for work performed in Germany; the applicable local rules are assessed elsewhere. Relocation to Germany is not required unless a listing explicitly says so.
Do I need to be a student?
Not for every opportunity. A mandatory internship normally requires current enrolment and university documentation; voluntary internships depend on the listing and the written agreement.
Are current internships paid?
Compensation depends on the internship type and documented legal eligibility. Mandatory internships may be unpaid. A qualifying voluntary study-related or orientation internship may be unpaid for up to three months under section 22 MiLoG; otherwise the applicable statutory minimum wage is paid. The decision is confirmed in writing before the internship begins.
What is the expected commitment?
Current internships are designed for 20 hours per week. Mandatory internships may last 3 or 6 months; qualifying voluntary internships are limited to 3 months if they rely on the MiLoG exemption. Exact scheduling is agreed before the start.
Are working hours flexible?
Remote hours can be organised with some flexibility, but agreed meetings and reasonable overlap with Berlin time are required.
How does the one-month working-student pathway work?
A one-month unpaid learning placement is considered only after GamingCenter verifies that it is lawful in the candidate’s physical work country and reviews formal school, university or public-authority documentation. A candidate declaration alone is not approval. Candidates who are not eligible are not asked to perform unpaid work and may remain in recruitment or the consent-based talent pool until a paid opening is available. An approved placement uses weekly feedback and a transparent scorecard; at least 8/10 permits consideration for a separate paid working-student or junior offer, but does not guarantee one.
What do current paid roles pay?
After a separate paid offer, Germany-based remote working-student roles are budgeted at €14.00–€16.00 gross per hour and Estonia remote student employment starts at no less than the applicable statutory minimum, currently €5.67 gross per hour in 2026. Any higher applicable legal rate prevails. The Junior Partnership & Growth role is budgeted at €34,000–€40,000 gross per year. Final terms are stated in the written offer.
How does the Estonia remote student pathway work?
An unpaid traineeship is used only where a recognised educational institution or competent public authority formally arranges it and the required Estonia eligibility checks are approved before the start. Otherwise the candidate performs no unpaid work and may be considered later for a paid role. An approved placement uses weekly feedback and an end-of-month score; at least 8/10 permits consideration for a separate paid working-student or legally appropriate contract, subject to budget and headcount.
Which language is used?
English is the primary working and interview language. German may be used where both sides prefer it; each listing states its interview languages.
Can GamingCenter sign university forms?
We can review standard university internship documents and confirm agreed tasks and hours. Acceptance depends on the institution’s requirements and a signed agreement.
What equipment do I need?
Unless a listing says otherwise, candidates use their own computer and internet connection. No travel or purchase is expected without prior written agreement.
How long does the hiring process take?
The expected initial-review period and selection timeline are shown on each role. Current roles normally use one online interview and, where relevant, a short role conversation.
Will I receive a task?
Only where it is relevant to the role. We explain the scope, expected time and evaluation criteria before you begin; we do not request unpaid production work.
How do I update or withdraw my application?
Use your secure status link to withdraw. For a correction or CV replacement, use the contact option on that page and include your application reference.
How is my CV protected?
PDF, DOC and DOCX files up to 10 MB are malware-scanned before private storage. Only authorised HR users with appropriate role access can download clean documents.
Can I apply for multiple roles?
Yes. Submit a tailored application for each suitable open role.
Can I apply again after a rejection?
Yes. You may apply for a later role when your experience and the requirements are a better match.
